Altman might well be insane, but what about the people who are giving him the money. They can't all be crackers, so they must be semi-criminal conmen like Musk.

Yes! In some ways, technology replaces the magic that used to bring us joy or make our lives simpler. The stated goal of many technology companies is to make things easier, but they sure do have a tendency to make the world more complex and not as fun. This morning I was thinking about how neighbors used to talk with each other more and now they just fight about everything on the Nextdoor app.
